Principal's Message

Welcome to Ware Shoals Elementary/Middle School. The students, faculty, staff, and parents of Ware Shoals Elementary/Middle School are “Dedicated to Educational Excellence.” We collectively strive to create a culture of Learning, Serving, and Leading.

Our community is located on the banks of the beautiful Saluda River. Ware Shoals Elementary/Middle School is located at 45 West Main Street, Ware Shoals, South Carolina. Our building is named after Emma Maddox who was a respected teacher and principal in the 1950’s. The Emma Maddox Building was named in her honor, in recognition of her contributions to the educational, spiritual and civic lives of African Americans in the Ware Shoal's area. When public schools were integrated in 1969, Emma Maddox School became the middle school for all students in the community.

I believe students’ interests and curiosity provide intrinsic motivation that lead students on a road of lifelong learning with teachers as facilitators. As an administrator, I encourage students and teachers to meet their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe, values diversity, and encourages problem solving and collaboration in a student-centered classroom. I believe teamwork and open communication are essential to ensuring a positive and productive learning environment for our students, parents, faculty, staff, and community.

It is a privilege to learn, serve, and lead in a school community that is “Dedicated to Educational Excellence.”
