Our schools and students are so fortunate to have caring community partners. This year, O'Dell Corporation is providing school supplies for students at Ware Shoals Primary. Some of the employees even came during their lunch break to help distribute the supplies to classrooms! We also received supplies from the Lakelands United Way and the 8th Circuit Solicitor's Office which will be shared among the schools. Please join us in thanking all for their generosity!

In 2022, our state legislature passed the S.C. Child ID law. WSSD51 has been given at-home ID kits that are available for each student. To obtain a kit for your student(s), please notify the school office or your child's teacher. These are inkless, at-home kits that never enter a database. It takes about 2 minutes to complete and is to be stored at home in a cool, dry, and safe place. There is no obligation to request the kit. However, it will allow you to have your child’s vital information, fingerprints, and DNA should you ever need it. These kits are to be STORED AT HOME and should only be given to law enforcement in case of an emergency.

The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) is interested in piloting an initiative that could lessen the current school bus driver shortage. This pilot will provide a curriculum and pathway for 18-year-old high schoolers to acquire a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Students will acquire another employable skill—a Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements along with SCDE School Bus Driver Certification—and can potentially help relieve driver shortages before and after graduation. If you or someone you know is interested, contact Dr. Fay Sprouse, Superintendent, at 864-456-7496.
