Teacher Cadets

Armed with knowledge and experience, our Teacher Cadets are ready for their journey as professional educators.  The Teacher Cadet program at Ware Shoals High embodies our district motto of Learning, Serving, and Leading.  The Cadets are learning in the classroom and through field experiences and taking that knowledge to serve and lead in our community and in our schools. Our Cadets are advocates for education and will one day serve as teachers in our community and schools.  The mission of the Teacher Cadet program is to encourage academically able students who possess exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills to consider teaching as a career. Our goal at Ware Shoals High School is to provide the opportunity for these exemplary students to gain the knowledge and insight of the education profession. Our goal is for them to be successful graduates from Ware Shoals High as Teacher Cadets and continue their college journey in the education field.  Our hope is that our Cadets will return to our district and continue their leadership service in our classrooms and community.

“My favorite part of teacher cadet was getting to teach in a classroom setting with the best group of first graders! I was able to form relationships with my students and the teacher mentoring me. I loved getting real life experience through teacher cadet that I know will help me in the future.”  Madison Harris

“I loved doing field experience because it gave me a chance to know and form relationships with the students. I learned that each child learns differently and you have to make accommodations for your students.” CJ Howard, Freshman at Lander University

“I've learned that I really do want to make a career out of this. I feel like this is my calling.” Jaelyn McAllister

“I like the fact that in Teacher Cadet we have the chance to express ourselves and get creative.” Zae Hicks

“I like how it is preparing me for what could be my future. When I first joined, I was not too sure about teaching, but now I think it is something I really want to pursue.” Alyssa Wood

“It was hard to choose one thing to pick as my favorite thing about the Teacher Cadet program, but I would have to say it's the interactive activities that we do with our classmates.” Hannah Wiles

“What I love about Teacher Cadet is that it's making me realize that being a teacher really is what I want to do. Before this class, I knew I wanted to be a teacher, but I was kind of skeptical. Teacher Cadet is opening me up to the idea of being a teacher and helping me realize this really is what I want to do.” Lauren Guthrie

“What I loved most about Teacher Cadet was going into classroom and teaching a lesson. I also enjoyed reading books to the students.” Ben Webb, Freshman at Tri-County Technical College
