The WSHS baseball team traveled to South Pointe High School in Rock Hill to face off against a tough Lewisville High School squad. Coming out of the losers bracket, the Hornets had to win two consecutive games to claim the district championship.
The Hornets took the first game with a solid 3-1 win. But it was in the second game where they truly showcased the spirit of Ware Shoals. Down 5-1, they fought their way back to tie the game 5-5 in the 7th inning, forcing extra innings. In a thrilling finish, our Hornets sealed the victory 7-5 in the 8th, securing the championship in dramatic fashion.
The Hornets are back in action tonight, Thursday, May 15 at 7:00 PM at Riegel Stadium on Lou Brissie Field, where they will take on region rival Dixie High School. Let’s pack the stands and show these young men the support they deserve!
Admission is $8 as set by the SCHSL, and only SCHSL passes will be accepted.
